American kid facing backlash after baton controversy speaks out! Claims video may look intentional, but it was not her intent. The attacked athlete was left with a concussion and a fractured skull.
Following online backlash Alaila Everett received after attacking a fellow high school athlete with a baton during a relay race, she has spoken for the first time saying it wasn’t her intent.
At the VSHL Class 3 State Indoor Championships in the United States, Kaelen Tucker was attacked with her baton by Everett in the middle of a relay race.
Tucker was on the second leg of the 4x200m relay at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA, when she got smacked in the head after she ran past Everett during the race, who couldn’t control her emotions and physically lashed out in that moment.

“When we got to the curve she kept bumping me in my arm and when we got off the curve I finally passed her and that was when she hit me with the baton,” said Tucker after the incident.
Sadly, it is reported that she suffered a concussion and a potential skull fracture, and it’s unclear if she’ll file charges.

Meanwhile, Everett, a student at I. C. Norcom High School, Portsmouth, VA, and her school’s 4x200m squad comprising Amora Mosely, Everett, Adrianne Ferguson, and Laiyah Banks was disqualified, and reports have it that neither the girl’s mother nor the coach apologized for the incident.
With several raging online reactions, Everett released an emotional video claiming the action may look intentional but it wasn’t her intent.

Track and field stars for another year running aren’t on the list of the Top 10 highest-paid female athletes in the world 2025. Should this be a cause for worry?
“I’m just a person by myself, nobody is going to believe me. Because I can admit from the video it does look purposeful, but I know my intentions and I would never hit someone on purpose,” she said.
Expectedly, many discredited her claims and believe she should still face the consequences of her actions.
Here are some reactions below.
“She couldn’t control her emotions and she physically lashed out in that moment. It may not have been “on purpose” but that’s what she visualized when she saw the girl passing her. Her body translated that thought into action. She needs to work on controlling her impulses.”
“Since when did they start carrying the baton that high? Let her cry the video doesn’t lie. It was intentional.”
“These tears are only showing up because she’s guilty and doesn’t want to have this ruin her life. She doesn’t care in the slightest.”
“There was no reason why your hand needed to be that high in a relay. I’d sue, a fractured skull? Nah”
“A concussion and a fractured skull as a result of a fucking track race doesn’t happen on accident…. Bffr”
