Troops of 1 Division, Nigerian Army, under Sector 4, Operation Fasan Yamma, have successfully neutralized three violent extremists and insurgents (VEIs) in an ambush near Ngwagi Hill, Gwagwada Community, off the Kaduna-Abuja Highway in Chikun LGA of Kaduna State.
The well-coordinated operation, conducted on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, resulted in a firefight, forcing several other terrorists to flee with gunshot wounds.
A statement from 1 Division, Kaduna, detailed the operation: “Acting on credible intelligence regarding the movement of VEIs near Ngwagi Hill, troops were immediately deployed on a long-range fighting patrol to intercept the insurgents. By 5:30 PM, the troops had successfully launched an ambush, neutralizing three armed members of the criminal group.”
During the operation, troops recovered a cache of arms and ammunition, including: Two AK-47 rifles, Eight AK-47 rifle magazines, 374 rounds of 7.62mm x 39 special ammunition, 88 rounds of 7.62mm x 54 NATO ammunition and One Infinix mobile phone
The statement highlighted that the success of the operation was due to the troops’ high morale, combat efficiency, and effective intelligence collaboration.
Commending the troops, Major General Mayirenso Lander David Saraso, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division and Commander Sector 1 Joint Task Force, Operation Fasan Yamma, praised their resilience and urged them to remain relentless in their efforts to eliminate all criminal elements within the area.
