The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has officially removed Ellie Bitar of CBEX Solutions Ltd. from its wanted list after new evidence absolved him of involvement in a large-scale cryptocurrency fraud associated with the Crypto Bridge Exchange platform.
The EFCC, in a statement released on Wednesday, announced: “Ellie Bitar of CBEX Solutions Ltd., who was earlier declared wanted, has since been removed from the list owing to new information that does not support his inclusion in the wanted person’s list.”
Although the Commission did not disclose the specifics of the new evidence, it confirmed that its ongoing investigation continues to uncover critical leads in what it has termed a “monumental fraud.” The scam, allegedly orchestrated through CBEX, has defrauded numerous investors and remains under intense scrutiny.
Despite clearing Bitar, the EFCC maintains that eight individuals are still actively wanted in connection with the case. They are:
- Seyi Oloyede
- Emmanuel Uko
- Adefowora Oluwanisola
- Adefowora Abiodun Olanipekun
- Johnson Okiroh Ofienolu
- Israel Mbalika
- Joseph Michiro Kabera
- Serah Michiro
“The EFCC is gaining important ground in its search for eight wanted persons implicated in the fraud,” the agency stated.
The Commission also highlighted its ongoing international collaboration efforts, confirming that it is working closely with global law enforcement bodies to apprehend the remaining suspects.
“Law enforcement agencies across the world are collaborating with it in tracking and arresting all the wanted persons. The EFCC will not relent in bringing every actor involved in the fraudulent dealings to book,” the statement affirmed.
