Van Dijk has sent emotional message to injured Liverpool fans.
Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk offered his sympathies to those injured during yesterday’s incident, which marred the Merseyside club’s championship parade.
After a van ploughed into the crowd, 47 supporters were injured. Twenty-seven remain hospitalised, with four in serious condition.
“My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected,” he wrote on Instagram beneath a photo of the Royal Liver Building shrouded in red smoke.
He added, “Praying for a speedy recovery for all those injured. We are all with you.”
Club legend Steven Gerrard also responded, expressing his support for the injured.
“I’m shocked, disgusted, and saddened by the incident we all witnessed in our city last night. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved and their families,” he wrote.
