Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, welcomed the iconic Premier League trophy to the State House in Marina, reaffirming his administration’s dedication to leveraging sports as a powerful tool for youth empowerment and social development.
The trophy was presented by Mr. Girish Sharma, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Guinness Nigeria Plc, as part of the company’s initiative to bring Nigerian football fans closer to the excitement of the English Premier League.
In a statement, Sanwo-Olu praised the symbolic value of the Premier League trophy, describing it as a beacon of inspiration for the state’s youth population.
Sanwo-Olu emphasised the broader social impact of sports, highlighting its role in nurturing the potential of young people and fostering responsible citizenship.
He said,” Today, at Lagos House, Marina, I received the English Premier League Trophy, brought in by Girish Sharma, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Guinness Nigeria Plc, along with his team.
“We had a good conversation about sports, collaboration and how organisations like Guinness can help support growth, community development, and opportunities for young people in Lagos.”
