American hurdling queen is confident in her training ahead of springing a surprise in the women’s Short Hurdles category at the Grand Slam Track in Philadelphia.
World and Olympic champion Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone revealed the special training she has been involved in to get ready for her highly anticipated first professional 100m race at Grand Slam Track (GST) League in Philadelphia this weekend.
The world record holder who will be stepping down from her trademark event, the women’s 400mH, will compete in the 100mH and 100m events at the prestigious GST League.

Facing a star-studded field of Ackera Nugent and Danielle Williams, who are both previous Slam winners of the women’s short hurdles category at the GST League, McLaughlin-Levrone will aim to produce a stunning upset against the seasoned sprint hurdlers.
Speaking ahead of her highly anticipated meet, McLaughlin-Levrone revealed the changes she worked on in training and how they will help her preparations.
“It’s definitely been a shift this past few weeks, but it’s been great to work on sprint mechanics, block start and hurdle technique because those are all things – even though they aren’t as important in longer races – which can still be of benefit down the line,” she said in an interview with The Athletic.

Olympic 100m bronze medallist Melissa Jefferson-Wooden clocked a stunning 10.75s (2.4) to take the 100m win at Grand Slam Track in Miami.
McLaughlin-Levrone has been one of the most dominant athletes in the past five years, as she’s yet to lose a 400mH hurdle race since 2020.
As she steps down to compete in the short hurdles and sprints against seasoned hurdlers and sprinters, it remains to be seen whether she’ll continue her winning streak to showcase her exceptional talent and versatility in the sport.
